Tamagotchi Murder (Comic) 2025
Illustrated in Procreate
I received my first Tamagotchi Christmas 1998. 6 days later, the symbol of death was plastered upon the screen of my new Tamagotchi. Throughout the years I “murdered” more Tamagotchi’s than I can remember. Winter of 2024, I saw a display for the digital creatures of my past and a wave of nostalgia washed over me. I bought 4 of them, one for my daughter, for her friend, for my friend and lastly, for me. I made it my goal to take care of it every time I heard even the faintest beep, it could have been the beep of my coffee maker, or a watch but I wasn’t going to let this thing die. By day 7 it was dead. The life of my daughters Tamagotchi had surpassed mine! It was then that I realized, I can’t keep these things alive, I’m a murderer. I then started imagining a daughter finding her mother’s shoe box of deceased Tamagotchi’s hidden beneath the bed of her mother, kept as some sick trophy of her deadly habit. Tamagotchi Murder was born from a runaway story line about my inability to keep these little creatures alive.
