Our stories is a series of three different stories of the violence women experience throughout their lives. Each accordion book has a different story and experience with violence. 

 

This accordion book series is a détournement of Heresies#6 in Women and Violence summer 1978. It was made to show the commonality of violence against women. We are often made to be quiet about our experiences because of the discomfort it gives others and the pass it gives to men that inflict said violence. When we decide to speak up about those experiences, we are faced with repercussions of talking about our experiences. These books push back against the norm of suppressing what we have gone through. The reader is meant to sit with that discomfort and reflect upon how not only were the physical, sexual, and emotional abuse acts of violence, but so is the expectation of secrecy.
